Welcome to 1st Grade!
   First Grade is a wonderful time of learning, becoming independent thinkers, problem-solvers, and so much more! We explore our likes and dislikes and really get to experience school like a "big kid".  Now that we are entering our 6th week of school, we are acclimated to our surroundings, we have made the necessary adjustments, and we are ready to take on 1st Grade! 

Just a few reminders...
Homework goes home every Monday and is due back every Friday.  Homework consists of a Reading Comprehension Passage, a Language Arts component, a Phonics skill for that week, and the Math Lessons that we are covering that week.  A Spelling Packet will also go home each week. Please sign off on the homework each week, after your child has completed it.  

Class Party Donations...We are asking for a $10 donation from each student to be put towards our Fall Party, Thanksgiving Party, Winter Celebration, and our Valentine's Day Party.  
This $10 donation helps to purchase the cupcakes, juice, treats, and games/crafts for the students. 


Scholastic Book Orders go out each month, and can be purchased at any time during the month.  Visit scholastic.com and put in our classroom code: MDJRD and you can purchase books for your child to be delivered to the classroom.  Each dollar spent is a point for our classroom that I can use to order books for our students.  This is a great way for you to save money on your books, to get your child excited about reading, and to help out our classroom!
