The Ladies Club and Greenwood Gents are up and running! These two programs were created in order to enhance the social and emotional development of the 3rd graders. I founded  The Ladies Club 20 years ago, at McKinley and it has been implemented at Greenwood, over the last six years. This club targets 3rd grade girls, and while the emphasis is on appropriate lady-like behavior; its purpose is to also enhance self-esteem, the ability to get along with others, respect, conflict resolution, and to promote responsibility and leadership skills.   The girls have a special uniform that they are required to wear every Thursday, consisting of a personalized pink polo and a uniform skirt. They also have a Pledge that they are required to memorize, which governs their code of conduct.

The Greenwood Gents was founded four years ago, and is for 3rd grade boys. This program is facilitated by male parent volunteers, under my direction.  It promotes similar skills such as; leadership, responsibility getting along with others, respect, conflict resolution, and what it means to be a gentlemen.  Every Wednesday the boys are required to wear their uniform pants, a white dress shirt, and a tie.

The students are taking great pride in being a part of these programs and are being looked upon as leaders and role models throughout the building.
