My desire is that we form a partnership to help your child flourish. I believe that the sky is the limit, and as a class family we will soar to new heights this year! I am always available to you, and can be reached at [email protected], or you may call the office if you need to contact me immediately.

Again, it is with great pleasure that I serve you and your child, and look forward to this year's journey together.

I am certain that this year we will exceed Accelerated Reader expectations! Accelerated Reader is an integral part of your child's Literature grade. As homework each student should spend a minimum of 30 minutes each night reading a novel. This disciplined practice should enable students to test each week.  It will also ensure that all students attain the points needed for each quarter.

Literature

As we approach this school year lets keep in mind that soon our 8th graders will be taking steps and making their transitions into high school. I feel confident that with our new text book adoption our students will be prepared.

Our series will allow us to dig deeper into text selections, and truly begin developing analysis skills. Our students will constantly be challenged to think critically and beyond the text.  These opportunity will be a great asset as we embark upon the PARCC Assessment in the spring.  As a team of parent and teacher will must encourage our students to push beyond their comfort zones, as we embark on new beginnings.

 Sadlier Connect- Vocabulary

vocabulary

In 8th grade we are continuing to build and expand our vocabulary. Every other week as a class we encounter a new unit in our textbook. Please encourage students to study notecards each night. A few minutes each night will help make a world of difference on their assessments and retention of the words studied.

My hope is that your child will continue to expand their vocabulary by using these words in their daily dialogue. A link to the online book is located at the top left of the page.
