WELCOME BACK!

Welcome back to a new school year!  We are very excited to begin a new year and hope you are too!

 

Please read the following information regarding our physical education program, after reading, if there are questions and concerns, please contact me right away.

 

UNITS:

 

This year we will cover the following units in this order, along with other activities, they are as listed:

ASSESSMENT:

Students will earn 100 points daily in all Physical Education Classes and will be assessed in the following manner:

 

Students Assessment:

  1. Participation 50% of grade (70 % if there is no cognitive or skill assessment)
  2. Skills assessment, quick writes, and written test 20 % of daily grade
  3. Dress20% of grade
  4. Tardiness/ being on time for class 10%

 

REQUIRED DRESS AND PARTICIPATION

 

All students must dress for gym on designated days. Mondays are Health Education days, therefore we will not dress for gym as well as half day schedules. Otherwise, students are expected to dress and participate without excuse. However, if unable to dress or participate, an excused letter must be provided by parent or guardian, a doctor, or the school nurse.

 

 

 

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:

 

  • Students must be in the gym before the tardy bell and will have five minutes before and after class to dress and prepare for activity or for their next class.
  • All students are expected to participate in warm up exercises and the class activity at all times and are expected to do so to the best of their ability.
  • Several of our units will be conducted outdoors, therefore please be aware of this for those who may have allergies, asthma, etc.(Please contact the school Nurse to make sure treatment/pumps are kept on hand).
  • Once class has ended, students are expected to follow safety procedures to end the class, move to a designated location, put away all equipment, and sit quietly for the dismissal bell. Moving as one class will ensure the safety of all students, and it will enable me to supervise everyone at the same time.

A - 93- 100                         B-  84 - 92

C -74 - 83                            D- 65 - 73

F – 0 – 64

 

LOCKER ROOM LOCKERS (LOCKS):

 

Parents we do have individual lockers in the locker room for each child to secure personal items only, which include gym uniforms , gym shoes, uniform shirt and pants, as well as books and school supplies. All other valuables, such as money, watches, jewelry, electronic equipment, (phones & ipods ) etc,  must not be kept or  left in the locker room at anytime.

 

However, each child is required to purchase a combination lock to secure all personal items. The combination of which, must be secured in the office in the event of an emergency.

 

Consequences

  1. Failure to dress for gym at anytime, loss of points (100pts) gym class suspension, write out class expectations.
  2. Not meeting class behavior expectations, loss of participation points (70pts), sit out, write out behavior expectations.
  3. Late to class, loss of points 10% of total points for that day.

 

Parents depending on the severity of the infraction, you and the Dean of Students may be notified..
