Social Studies

We have adopted a new social studies curriculum this year! This curriculum covers the following topics:

Unit 1: People and Traditions

Unit 2: Where We Live

Unit 3: Beginning Economics

Unit 4: Good Citizens

What we’re doing in Social Studies:
Unit 3 - Beginning Economics
- Students are learning about the importance of goods and services.
- We will be talking about why we need money and exchanging money for goods
- Discussing the importance of producers, sellers, and buyers.
- Making choices and character values such as honesty, courage, and responsibility.

Science

We have also adopted a new science curriculum this year called Inspire Science.  This curriculum follows the next generation science standards and focuses on science and literacy integration.  Students will also be introduced to a variety of fascinating S.t.e.m. careers and are able to practice real-world problem-solving skills. 

There is a total of 6 science topics covered in the new curriculum:

- Sound energy

- Light energy

- Using energy to communicate

- Plants and animals

- Offspring and their parents

- Earth and Space

What we’re doing in Science:
- Life Science
- We currently have 24 chicken eggs incubating in our classroom.  Students will be learning about life cycles as we observe and discuss the development of chicks in their eggs.
