Hi, I'm Mrs. Terry.  I have been a teacher in the district for 22 years.  I am looking forward to working with you and your child to make this a successful year!

As a new year begins, I would like to help familiarize you with some of the rules and procedures that we use in junior high.

The book that we use for Literature and Language Arts is Collections by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Since it is an online book a set is in class.  If you do not have the ability to access the online book, your child can request a book that can be kept at home.  To access the online book just click on the link at the top of the page.

Students will also receive a Vocabulary Workshop book that will be used every other week to work on Vocabulary and Spelling.  Vocabulary Quizzes will be on Fridays unless there is not a full week.

AR counts as 10% of your Literature grade.  You should be checking out a book in the library each week that is in your ZPD range and taking tests on a regular basis.  Click on the Accelerated Reader link at the top to check to see the percentage for the number of points that you have earned.  Parents can check their child's progress using the link to Renaissance Parent Home Connect found on the Home page.

When you are absent it is your responsibility to get the work you missed.  You have one day for every day that you were out plus one extra day to make up the work.  All tests and quizzes missed should be made up within 5 school days.  You can come before or after school to make up work, tests, or quizzes.
